All you need is love

The weekend before last we went to the engagement party for our good friends Yash and Chris. Yash went to high school with Tom's sister however they and the rest of their group have completely adopted us and for years now they have been some of our closest friends.

Yash and Chris are such a gorgeous couple. High school sweet-hearts, they have been together for a very long time but they are still so clearly in love and mad about each other. They are gentle and loving and you can tell they really care about each other.

I ran around like a nutter at the party with camera in one hand and a glass of champagne in the other and got in trouble several times from the security guard for standing on stools. I really think the photos captured what a happy, lovely night it was.

Here are just a few of my favourites.

Sunshine and mum love.

As Laura mentioned, the past weekend was exactly what the doctor ordered.
After my week of being awfully sick I took Sarah and Laura up with me for a weekend with my mum.

Mum and Don live in a townhouse in Buderim right at the top of the hill with lovely views of the ocean. Seeing my mum always makes me happy and I had a really wonderful weekend with her and the girls.
{Those eyes!}

We went opping, beaching and had lots of lazy time together. My mum is very amazing and the girls definitely appreciated her unique loveabillity.

Being apart for big chunks of time has really made me appreciate anytime I get to spend with her. She always makes me calm and happy and I can talk to her about absolutely anything. Mum and I have almost identical taste in everything and I love sharing creative ideas with her.
I am so very lucky to have such an amazing woman as my mum.
{Mum and I}

We had a wonderful time at the beach Saturday and had to go back Sunday before we came home. The beach at the Sunshine Coast is so lovely, it always makes me happy to be there.

It's a rummaging weekend

Yesterday I had a stall as part of Suitcase Rummage at St Jerome's Laneway Festival.
Photos forthcoming!

Hi to all the wonderful people that I met!
I had a really great day. The only downer was the relentless sun beating right down on me but to make up for it I met lots of lovely people, had some awesome Nachos, chilled with some very cool people and listened to great bands!

I came home sweaty, exhausted and very happy.

And in other exciting news,
tomorrow is the first Suitcase Rummage of 2011!

February 6th

Friendship framed

A little while ago I did an impromptu photo shoot at a friend's house with two of my favourite girls. These two mean a lot to me and I really wanted to capture how lovely, happy and playful they are.

I clearly played with these a lot in Lightroom. I normally prefer sticking to the original photo as much as possible but I must admit it was a lot of fun to alter these like crazy. Sometimes I think we need to not take everything so seriously and just have fun with art; appreciate the tacky and the over the top!

Aren't they adorable?

Chickens and dogs and gorgeous girls

I spent Sunday evening photographing the gorgeous Mariko and Sarah-Jayne. They are both such beautiful girls and I had a lot of fun with them.

Painting with light

I spent all day yesterday at a photography course run by Take Better Photos. I've done a shorter course with them before and yesterday was the 9 & 1/2 hour advanced digital SLR course which was amazing. I've had a bit of a tough week in not feeling too crash hot so I did struggle towards the end. I left at 7.30pm and it hadn't quite finished yet but there was no more my brain could take.

I learnt a lot and I really hope that it all stays gelled in my brain. I would definitely recommend the course, Dean is a great teacher and explains things so well. It also comes with a guide that is tailor made for your camera so you don't need to read the manual and learn all the tricky things yourself!

My favourite part of the day was the painting with light we did as soon as it got dark enough. I don't think I'll ever get sick of this. So much fun!
