All you need is love

The weekend before last we went to the engagement party for our good friends Yash and Chris. Yash went to high school with Tom's sister however they and the rest of their group have completely adopted us and for years now they have been some of our closest friends.

Yash and Chris are such a gorgeous couple. High school sweet-hearts, they have been together for a very long time but they are still so clearly in love and mad about each other. They are gentle and loving and you can tell they really care about each other.

I ran around like a nutter at the party with camera in one hand and a glass of champagne in the other and got in trouble several times from the security guard for standing on stools. I really think the photos captured what a happy, lovely night it was.

Here are just a few of my favourites.

March Suitcase Rummage

Last Sunday was the March Suitcase Rummage.
Up outside the Casino again, it was a really great day. I had my mum on one side, Sarah on the other and lots of visitors throughout the day who dropped in and hung out.

Mum with her new goodies.

I sold 3 papercuttings which I was really happy with and a whole heap of clothes and second-hand stuff.
These two girls looked at my papercuttings and decided that they wanted one each but didn't want to buy them for themselves (one was 'You're pretty fucking fabulous'). So they bought them for each other then handed them over and said 'Act surprised!'
It's people like this that make my day.

Rummage is such a great spot to get rid of unwanted clothes or even find amazing new items. Last Sunday was the first rummage I went to and didn't buy anything! I was so proud of myself.

Meanwhile, tonight I tidied my frame pile and counted them. 42 frames ready and waiting for papercuttings. That should keep me very busy for awhile!

Sunshine and mum love.

As Laura mentioned, the past weekend was exactly what the doctor ordered.
After my week of being awfully sick I took Sarah and Laura up with me for a weekend with my mum.

Mum and Don live in a townhouse in Buderim right at the top of the hill with lovely views of the ocean. Seeing my mum always makes me happy and I had a really wonderful weekend with her and the girls.
{Those eyes!}

We went opping, beaching and had lots of lazy time together. My mum is very amazing and the girls definitely appreciated her unique loveabillity.

Being apart for big chunks of time has really made me appreciate anytime I get to spend with her. She always makes me calm and happy and I can talk to her about absolutely anything. Mum and I have almost identical taste in everything and I love sharing creative ideas with her.
I am so very lucky to have such an amazing woman as my mum.

We had a wonderful time at the beach Saturday and had to go back Sunday before we came home. The beach at the Sunshine Coast is so lovely, it always makes me happy to be there.

Inspired and excited

I had a really great weekend full of friends, markets and lots of sun and heat.
It was a scorcher in Brisbane and I spent two days sitting in the sun hawking my wares.

Friday was a fantastic day at Laneway.
My goods for sale.

Seeing if anything has melted in the sun. Direct sunlight for 4 hours in Brisbane Summer is not good for photos.

Two Door Cinema Club. So freaking awesome.

My festival buddy.

Great way to keep cool in the heat!

Yesterday was the first Sunday of the month so we grabbed our suitcases and headed into the city for Suitcase Rummage. Despite the heat (again) and a pretty decent hangover, I had a lovely day chilling with good friends. I managed to spend most of my profits during the day but that's part of what I love about rummage.

Looking forward to next month!

All for the puppies!

I've received an exciting email this evening about future prospects for my art and I will share once I know more. Positive feedback always inspires!

Friendship framed

A little while ago I did an impromptu photo shoot at a friend's house with two of my favourite girls. These two mean a lot to me and I really wanted to capture how lovely, happy and playful they are.

I clearly played with these a lot in Lightroom. I normally prefer sticking to the original photo as much as possible but I must admit it was a lot of fun to alter these like crazy. Sometimes I think we need to not take everything so seriously and just have fun with art; appreciate the tacky and the over the top!

Aren't they adorable?

Edward and Lilly

My lovely friend Bec has a label called Edward and Lilly where she creates beautiful brooches, purses, soft toys and lots of other things.

I visited her at the BrisStyle Twilight Markets last night and finally bought on of her brooches.
My little sausage dog looked great on my pink top!
I first met Bec when I did work experience at Flying Arts back in Uni. Bec no longer works at Flying Arts but as an integral part of BrisStyle she is an adamant supporter of local artists.
Along with her BrisStyle work and booming business Bec also co-runs Eyeline magazine.

She has always been incredibly supportive and I find her a huge inspiration.

Last rummage of twenty-ten

{my stall}

Last Sunday was the final rummage for this year. While it was not the best I've had it was a really nice day of mum's, visitors, handmade dresses and cute teenage girls.

{mum's amazing handmade mermaids}

I definitely didn't make a lot of money (especially after I discovered the handmade vintage dresses a couple of stalls up) but I got some lovely comments on my art.

{Laura's handmade cake stands and delicious red velvet cupcakes}

Plus I got to sit next to my mum, the lovely Laura and eat display cupcakes.

{Laura's stall - that you and me in the gold frame is so freaking adorable!}

I'm looking forward to the first rummage of 2011 on February 6 at good old King George Square. I'll be there with lots of new goodies!
